The good news

Hello friend!

Have you heard about the good news of Jesus Christ?

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 New International Version (NIV)

Essentially, the good news is that:
  • God created human beings to be His image bearers and agents to rule over His creation.
  • Our first ancestors, Adam and Eve, rebelled against God by eating the forbidden fruit of the knowledge of good and evil (not a yummy delicious apple as many people think) against His clear instruction. He also said that they will die from eating it. As a result of the rebellion, henceforth, we are all separated from God as we await the rightful judgement and consequence of our actions -- eternal condemnation. We are all guilty of rebelling against God -- we all want to be determiners of our own lives instead of letting God rule over us. Physical death is the manifestation of His judgement in this life and a foretaste of the second death to come, which is far worse.
  • But God loves us and made plans to reconcile us to Him. He did this by sending His only Son, Jesus or Yeshua (if you are Jewish), to die on the cross in our place as our substitution for the penalty of our rebellion. Yes, He gave His life for us. And He is able to be our substitute because unlike us, He is sinless and therefore worthy. But on the third day, He rose from the grave, demonstrating that He is the One who is truly able to forgive our sins and grant us eternal life.
  • This invitation of forgiveness and eternal life in the name of Jesus Christ is open to All -- small and great, poor and rich, and whatever the colour of your skin. We just need to trust in Jesus for our forgiveness through His sacrificial death and follow Him as our Saviour and Master.
Here's a good pictorial presentation of the good news.

God bless you!
